May 2022: The non-profit group Opportunities Unlimited for People with Different Abilities” Agreed to Pay $118,000 for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Employing an Excluded Individual:

On May 25, 2022, Opportunities Unlimited for People with Differing Abilities, Inc. (OUPDA), Cranston, Rhode Island, entered into a $118,495.84 settlement agreement with OIG. The settlement agreement resolves allegations that OUPDA employed an individual who was excluded from participating in any Federal health care program. OIG’s investigation revealed that the excluded individual, a direct support staffer, provided items or services that were billed to Federal health care programs.
